Iochpe-Maxion launches 2021 Sustainability Report
At Iochpe-Maxion, we measure success by the impact of our operations on our world.
Today, we communicate our environment, social and governance progress with the release of Iochpe-Maxion’s 2021 Sustainability Report.
Some highlights include:
ENVIRONMENT
Carbon footprint
- 100% of Scope 1 and 2 emissions measured and calculated
- CO2 emissions intensity reduced 4.8% vs 2019 baseline
- Automatic electrical circuit shutdown pilot for one production line is saving 300KWh of power a day by unplugging the power to idle processes
Water
- Water usage per kilogram of wheel reduced by 13.75% vs 2019 (No figure for MSP)
- Water awards: The AEA Award, for Reuse Water; The Sindipec¸as Award, for External Reuse Water and the FIESP Award, for Water Conservation and Reuse. Mercedes-Benz Environmental Responsibility Award for project using AI to reduce water pollution
- CDP Water Security: Grade B
Energy
- 100% of Maxion Structural Components plants in Brazil operated on certified renewable energy
- Total natural gas consumption decreased by 6.1% vs 2019
Waste
- 12.7% decrease in waste-to-landfill intensity
- State of the art electrostatic paint guns have reduced waste by 50% at CV wheel plant in Pune India.
SOCIAL
- Technical training for 1,100 socio-economically disadvantaged youth in Brazil and Mexico
- Funding for 21,283 Professional Development Courses for art teachers in Latin America
- 15 tonnes of food donated to local communities in Brazil
- More than 100 schools in Turkey received water-saving training
GOVERNANCE
- 100% of our locations provided D&I training
- Recordable incident rate down from 2.91 in 2018 to 1.99 in 2021. (31.6% decrease vs 2018)
- 100% HSE training for all employees
- Zero quality recalls in 2021
