Maxion celebrates Black Latin American and Caribbean Women’s Day

A lecture was held for the plants in Cruzeiro, Contagem, MHS and the SP Office in celebration of International Black Latin American and Caribbean Women’s Day. The speaker, Danubia Silva, a specialist in Diversity and Inclusion with over 20 years of experience, brought together in a very rich conversation the importance of the place of black women in society. She gave examples of several important women in society, their history, the importance of braids in black women’s culture and also socioeconomic data for reflection. More than 280 people connected via Zoom and the plants had exclusive rooms to broadcast the event for the women in the operation. The young people from the FORMARE program in Cruzeiro and Contagem held an exhibition and presentation on the date and presented important women in history. International Day of Black Latin American and Caribbean Women has been celebrated every July 25 since 1992, when the date was established in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It is the result of the 1st meeting of Afro-Latin American and Afro-Caribbean Women, as explained by the United Nations (UN), an organization that also recognizes the importance of this event. The meeting aimed to denounce oppression and discuss solutions in the fight against racism and sexism experienced, especially by this segment of the female population, giving visibility to the struggle of women in the region.
